Street Fighter V

If there is a god amongst fighting games, Street Fighter will definitely be the one. This fighting franchise is legendary. That’s too bad for Nintendo and Xbox fans.

Killer Instinct

We can now enjoy Killer Instinct on Windows 10 PCs as well as on Xbox one. Thank you for that! This is a magnificent fighting game. Some may even put it above Street Fighter. It’s all thanks to great gameplay, excellent combo system and lagless multiplayer.

You can download Killer Instinct for free. Also, there is an option for buying characters and different seasons.

The King of Fighters XIV

King of Fighters franchise is also one of the greatest there is. The fourteenth series comes with 3D graphic styles. Truth be told, graphics are not perfect and cannot match some of the finest games but a lot of other great things make up for that. The gameplay and mechanics are one of those things. They’re so good, you’ll forget about those not perfect graphics.

You won’t get bored with this game. There are around 50 different characters with various move sets and styles. You can enjoy in different single and multiplayer modes.

If you’re new to fighting games, Skullgirls is the one to start with. It has many advantages. It’s easy to play and very newbie – friendly. You’ll be able to study very detailed tutorial. It’s not expensive and you can play it on older hardware also. The game is available on multiple platforms.

General Information

Here’s another game from Tekken franchise. The Mishima Clan is back. As you may been expecting, there’s extreme fighting and violence. Yeah, that is Tekken series. As an arcade game it looks very good. Nevertheless, Tekken 7 is not as good as some other 2017 games. There are some extremely bright moments when you can see every segment pretty sharp but unfortunately it’s not the case all the time.

If you’re new to Tekken, this game probably won’t help you learn the rules quickly. They are not exactly going to throw you a welcome party. There is not much help in the practice mode or with the tutorials.

You will get fun while playing, that’s for sure. Well, you’ll enjoy if you don’t mind some silly parts. If you learn how to love that ridiculousness, you’ll have even more fun. This game offers a variety of interesting creatures. You can find animals such as tigers and bears. There are also some demons. You’ll be a witness of some moments from previous games. For example, they’ll try to tell about the reasons why a single family engaged the whole world into war. An excellent choice was made here. Instead of dubbing everyone into English, they used subtitles. That’s a great choice. Subtitles allow players to connect with characters more, ‘cause every narrative has its originality and uniqueness.

Tekken 7 gameplay image

You can play it online

There’s an option of playing the game online. It’s certainly much more interesting than the other way. You can compete with other players and meet different choices and styles along the way. If you’re up for some purchasing with in – game currency, you’ll find tons of crazy stuff. Without revealing all the funny details, let me just tell you there are options of rainbow and deer hair. It’s all up to your imagination.

Minor Issues

Although it brings more joy, online playing may be a little problem sometimes. There are some issues they need to work on to make it work better. It may be hard to find the opponent online. Sometimes, players may disconnect themselves because your choice of character is visible and they may not be in the mood for fighting that certain character. Developers are aware of this issue and they are currently working on fixing it. We can only hope for the best.

You definitely should try Tekken 7 if you’re a fan of Tekken series. If you haven’t tried playing any before, you should give it a chance. It won’t be easy at first; especially knowing those tutorials won’t be of much help. Eventually, you may find yourself liking the game.

  • Fun and fast fighting
  • You will find the stories of some characters interesting

  • There is no variety of interesting modes
  • Online playing is the game’s biggest issue at the moment
  • It’s not very newbie friendly.

Available on Xbox One, PS4

If you’re thinking whether you should play this game, there is one question you need to ask yourself. Are you a true fan on Naruto and the Naruto Shippuden series? If the answer is yes, then go ahead. Read this review and find your own copy of the game. If you’re not, playing the game won’t be satisfying to you. This game is for the hard core fans only. Without further ado, let’s get into the review.

Story Mode

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 follows the story of the game series. You’ll be engaged in battles while following characters through their own stories. Sometimes, there will be parallel storylines. Those chapters are nicely done but it won’t be rare to spend more time watching then playing.

Be prepared to spend your very first battle or two wondering what’s going on. First of all, 3D arenas where combat is placed probably won’t help your orientation. Also, you need to know that Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is not like any other fighting game. This one is pretty fast and confusing. You have to focus on awareness all the time and make quick and strong moves.

After few battles you’ll be accustomed to the game. You’ll be fully aware of controls and the mechanics. You’ll find this game amusing and a lot more interesting than you first thought. This game is complex. You’ll learn about every fighter’s unique possibilities and differences between them. Every fighter has its own strength and abilities and the game requires from you to respect that. You’ll need to understand everyone’s style and then we can talk about some strategy. Surprisingly, this game is about strategy amongst other things.

Adventure Mode

After you complete Story mode, you can try your luck in Adventure mode. This mode will be a blast for Naruto’s big fans. Others won’t be so pleased. You may even find yourself a bit bored and like watching a soap opera instead of playing a videogame. The game offers possibility playing it online. That way, you can test your skills with Naruto fans all over the globe. They’ve done a good job here. The action goes smoothly and we can expect some regular updates.

Adventure mode brings a variety of content. There is over sixty fighters and numerous ninja disciplines. Of course, with such a wide range of characters comes the question of depth and balance. Well, it’s up to you to decide if the game is satisfying for you on that field.

Whether you enjoy playing the game, you need to give a big applause for its visuals. It’s almost like they brought anime to life. Everything is absolutely stunning. Good job guys!

Our Verdict

As we said in the beginning, this game is another delicious treat for Naruto devotees. If you’re not a fan, don’t bother trying to play the game. Sure, you’ll enjoy some beautiful visuals but other than that, it won’t be a fan trip for you.

The mobile version of the Mortal Kombat X is a hard topic to tackle. We’ve been asked for a number of times to shed some light on this game and show some of our thoughts with our readers so we are going to do it right now. Want to keep this short so, don’t expect an in-depth review of the product.

It’s mostly a TCG (trading card’s game)

Basically, it is a Mortal Kombat themed game rather than an actual installment of the series. At least, that’s how it feels to us, the veterans. Instead of unlocking characters you are unlocking cards. Technically, this is a trading card game rather than a 2D fighter. However, that doesn’t mean that there’s no fighting involved in this game’s core play, no.

Souls and Koins:

Whenever you wind a match, you will be awarded with souls. They are the games premium currency and they’re used for pretty much everything. There are other currencies as well, some exclusive to PVP while others are premium. You will want to have as many souls, alliance points and coins if you want to have the best possible team that you can. Additionally, you may option to use Mortal Kombat X generator for unlimited koins and souls since obtaining these involves a a lot of time.

Strategy phase:

You have a roster of familiar and beloved characters from previous games to unlock and play with. You assemble a team of three fighters and you enter the Mortal Kombat tournament. The trick is to try and make it so that the character abilities (both passive and active ones) are complementing each other. This is the strategic part of the gameplay but there is one more aspect of the game that you should know about.

Battle phase:

Even though this is not a pure 2D fighting game like the previous installments were, there is still some fighting to be had here. Although not as in-depth and diverse as we’re used to from the MK series, fighting is fighting.

You attack by tapping on your screen. Blocking can be done by holding two fingers on the screen at the same time. If you manage to land a combo or a couple of consecutive hits on your enemy, you may trigger a special move. These are mostly contextual and they will ask of you to do a series of QTE’s (quick time events) and, depending on your precision, speed and general success of your inputs, you charge your damage output.

Once you finally get your hands on a fighter that you’ve been after for a while,  you’ve only begun unlocking that character. To be more precise, unlocking the character only allows you to add him (or her) into one of your teams. If you want to reach that characters full potential, you will have to “re-buy” that character for nine additional times and upgrade him (or her) by doing this. It’s weird, yes but as we’ve said, this is mainly a trading card game.

So there you have it. We are not going to recommend this game or say that you shoul skip it. It’s an entry in MK franchise and although non-canon, it can still be fun. It is especially good to have something like this if you don’t own the PlayStation/Xbox or PC version of the game. It could be a fun pastime but it should not be taken seriously as other games.

Paul W.S. Anderson (director) / Kevin Droney (screenplay)

Christopher Lambert …. Lord Rayden
Robin Shou …. Liu Kang
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa …. Shang Tsung
Linden Ashby …. Johnny Cage
Bridgette Wilson …. Sonya Blade
Talisa Soto …. Kitana
Trevor Goddard …. Kano

This Paul W.S. Anderson’s movie gained more success than anybody probably imagined. It’s a movie based on a videogame and one of the most successful of that kind. That’s the fact but we wouldn’t call it a good movie. We probably shouldn’t go that far. Maybe it has some potentional but this theme could have been used better. First of all, it’s a little silly to imagine this story as a movie plot. It’s hard to relive the story while watching the movie. There is Outworld as a parallel dimension to Earth and battles between those two worlds. It’s clear that it is more a videogame material. It probably should have remained that.

What’s Not So Great about the Movie?

Where to begin with the bad sides of the movie? We mentioned that silly and a little cheesy storyline. That’s one thing. Let’s go further. What the acting is like? To be honest, it’s pretty bad. Terrible is the better word maybe. What’s up with the Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa’s (Shung Tsung) acting? He kind of went too far with all that evilness. Something’s wrong with his facial expression. When it comes to fighting, they probably should have tried some martial arts classes. It’s an action movie involving fighting. It’s a necessity. Robin Shoue is the exception. He’s the only bright light in the tunnel called martial arts in the Mortal Kombat movie. The Hong – Kong actor should have taught his colleagues a move or two. Linden Ashby (Johnny Cage) and Bridgette Wilson (Sonya Blade) look pretty silly compared to his action moves.

Another confusing part of the movie is the location. How big Shang Tsung’s island actually is? There’s a variety of locations which bring only confusion for viewers.

Good Parts

It’s not all bad with this movie. It’s far from the disastrous movie. We have seen the worse videogame – inspired – movies. Trust us. Robin Shou’s action moves are actually pretty good and entertaining. Also, Talisa Soto’s beauty won’t leave you indifferent. The soundtrack is awesome. Keep in mind that Mortal Kombat was released in 1995. It aged well when it comes to its visuals. If you were a teenager at the time and a big fan of the Mortal Kombat games, you probably did like the movie back then. Watching it from this perspective, we wouldn’t call it so great.

So, there are some perks of watching the Mortal Kombat movie. You should give it a go, especially if you’re a big fan of the game franchise. You won’t be amazed, that’s for sure but you’ll have fun while watching it. If it still is not enough for you, maybe you should think twice about watching this movie. This is for true fans only.

Mortal Kombat X is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

With Mortal Kombat 9’s great story, gameplay and modes, Mortal Kombat X was expected to be as good as its predecessor and even better. It wasn’t a small task for the creators. In spite of the pressure they were under, creators of MK series had succeeded. NetherRealm Studio hasn’t disappointed anyone. On the contrary, they’ve done a pretty good job.

Mortal Kombat X is missing some of the fan – favorite’s characters but we can still enjoy in plenty of great old characters. Also, they added some new interesting and playable fighters who blended well with the game.

Every character is smoothly animated and a real pleasure to play and watch. There are many perfectly fitted details. This segment is almost flawless.

Picking a favorite character is not an easy task anymore. It will be hard to choose just one you like the best. There is something for everyone. They added many variations. There are new weapons and move sets for every fighter. No matter what you like, you’ll be able to choose between wide set of options available.

Although there are new characters, they’re not entirely unknown to the franchise. Many of them are somehow related to the old one. For example, there are Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage’s daughter Cassie, Jax Briggs’ daughter Jacqui, Kung Lao’s cousins Kung Jim, and Kenshi’s son Takahashi Takeda. They represent a new vision but also dedication to old Mortal Kombat series.

The Story

The story of the Mortal Kombat X picks up 25 years after the last one. It’s a solid story. It’s not innovative but it’s playable. Story mode could have been more exciting but we wouldn’t characterize it as bad. We may call it decent. Not as great as the previous one, but still good. Smart thing is that there are far less chapters. It’s good for learning fighter’s move sets.

Mode Selection

If there are any flaws in the story, the mode selection will make up for that. Mortal Kombat X offers many modes. Players can choose from variety of modes. Great addition is the Test your lack mode which enables different experiences. There are plenty of interesting things modifiers bring to the game. Some of them punish, some buff, others make some crazy battle changes. They all together brought more fun to the game and made it more exciting.

Living Towers

Mortal Kombat X brings us some new experience with the Living Towers. Challenge Towers remained the same but the Living Towers are the fresh innovation to the game. They come in three different forms and change constantly. The change comes every hour, every few hours, or every day.

If you’re a fan of Mortal Kombat 9, you’ll like this one. Actually, every Mortal Kombat franchise fan will be pleased with this game. It has some small flaws but they are compensated with some other great qualities. Play the game and enjoy in another great Mortal Kombat adventure.

Gamers Corner

We made a review of 1997 John R. Leonetti’s movie Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. If you haven’t seen this ‘90s game adaption, feel free to read our critic and decide is it worth your time.

Here is a list of the main characters of the movie Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Liu King, starring Robin Shou;

Kitana, starring Talisa Soto;

Rayden, starring James Remar;

Sonya Blade, starring Sandra Hess;

Jex, starring Lynn “Red” Williams;

Shao Kahn, starring Brian Thompson;

Shinnok, starring Reiner Shone;

Nightwolf, starring Litefoot;

Jade, starring Irina Pantaeva;

Sindel, starring Musetta Vander.

In order to preserve peace on Earth, Liu King and other chosen Earthrealm fighters must fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament against the forces of Outworld. The rules are simple. If the Earthrealm warrior wins, that prevents Shao Kahn from invading Earth. Outworld needs to win ten tournaments for getting a chance to invade Earth. The movie makers apparently understood those rules differently. That’s the only explanation of the fact that no matter of the Earthrealm winning, Outworld managed to invade Earth anyway. Something’s not right there. That is a huge disappointment at the very beginning of the movie.

The invasion itself comes with interesting choice of effects. Fortunately, our heroes get to escape that and come out alive. The way they do that is a little strange, mildly said. They discover secret underground network and travel through that. Well, their choise of vehicle is also pretty strange. They travel via big metal balls.

Rayden’s Soap Opera

While Rayden seeks answers from the Elder Gods, Liu King and Kitana are looking for Nightwolf. Of course, nothing goes smoothly. Many villains attack them and finally take Kitana hostage. The group enters the Outworld with a plan to kill Shao Khan and free Kitana. While doing some major action, a touch of soap opera is brought in. Rayden opens his heart and talks about some tough moments from his past. That’s not exactly something Mortal Kombat fans are looking for. That definitely is not the time or the place. It all looks like he’s having a midlife crisis.

Did we mention another soap opera/romantic part of the movie? There is a part of something going on in the romantic department between Liu King and Jade. Is there a place for that in the middle of fighting for Earth’s destiny? I guess heart wants what a heart wants. We shouldn’t meddle in it.

The End

Every nice thing has an ending but luckily for us, bad things end as well. There is a final battle. The battle is between good and evil, Earthrealm and Outworld. Well, they failed to make even final moments interesting. In spite of our expectations, Rayden gets himself killed. That’s a shame. Wait, is he really dead? Of course he isn’t. He dies in the battle but then comes back to life as an elder god. They all return to the temple from the beginning of the movie. Sidel is also freed from her evil masters. And they all lived happily ever after.
